Never Let Go By: Elizabeth Goddard Genre: Romantic Suspense, Fiction Publisher: Revell Publication Year: 2019 Series: Uncommon Justice, Book #1 My Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars Synopsis:
As a forensic genealogist, Willow Anderson is following in her late grandfather’s footsteps in her quest for answers about a baby abducted from the hospital more than twenty years ago. The case may be cold, but things are about to heat up when someone makes an attempt on her life to keep her from discovering the truth. Ex-FBI agent–and Willow’s ex-flame–Austin McKade readily offers his help to protect the woman he never should have let get away. Together they’ll follow where the clues lead them, even if it means Austin must face the past he’s spent much of his life trying to forget. And even if it puts Willow’s tender heart at risk. ~Taken from Elizabeth Goddard's website: https://bethgoddard.com/books/never-let-go-uncommon-justice-1 My Thoughts: I am very conflicted over this story. As much as I wanted to like it and it falls into a genre (action, mystery, suspense, etc.) that I like, I had a really hard time getting into the story. And I really don't know the reason why I had such a hard time falling into the pages and letting the story sweep me away. Willow's occupation as a forensic genealogist is fascinating. It isn't something you hear of very often and I loved her little quirk of wandering through a cemetery to look at tomb stones. I would love to read more about Willow and some of the previous work she did. There are hints here and there throughout the book that she and her grandfather had some really interesting clients. To solve the kidnapping of a baby taken over 20 years before seems like an impossible task, until Willow and Austin find a thread and begin to pull on the thread, unraveling years of secrets. There is some great action and a little bit of mystery behind the scenes that kept me going. Although, I didn't enjoy all the drama between Austin and Willow, as their dynamic didn't really click with me. More than once I wanted to slap them upside the heads and talk some sense into them. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as it is about one of the brothers who was introduced in this book. Recommend? I do recommend this book even though I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I hope you enjoy it and are able to be swept away!
