In Too Deep By: Lynn H. Blackburn Genre: Romance, Suspense, Fiction Publisher: Revell Publication Year: 2018 Series: Dive Team Investigators, Book #2 My Rating: 4 of 5 stars Synopsis:
When the dive team is called in to recover a body from a submerged car, they aren’t prepared to find an encrypted laptop–or an unsettling connection between investigator Adam Campbell and the dead accountant. Adam turns to his friend Dr. Sabrina Fleming–a professor at the local university with unparalleled computer security and forensics skills–to recover the files from the laptop. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier the investigation becomes. When evidence uncovers a human trafficking ring and implicates members of Adam’s own family, he and Sabrina will have to risk everything to solve the case. The truth could set hundreds free–but someone is willing to do whatever it takes to silence anyone who threatens to reveal their secrets. Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn invites readers back to Carrington, North Carolina, where everything is not as it seems and sinister elements lurk behind the idyllic façade. Taken from Lynn H, Blackburn's website: http://lynnhblackburn.com/books/in-too-deep/ My Thoughts: This story drags you in and holds you captive until it resolves on the very last page. What a story. Before I dive into my review, let me just say you don't need to read the first book before this one. Will it help you better understand the characters? Yes, so I would highly suggest you read the first book and then read this one. As I was saying, this is an incredibly well written and engaging novel. I could not put it down. The characters were well written and relatable. I really enjoyed getting to know Adam and Sabrina better. Sabrina's character is this shy, but sweet tech savvy, who knows how to get results. I loved her backstory and how it played into who she became and her love helping the people. Adam's character is wonderful. He is sweet on Sabrina, but doesn't want to risk their friendship so he tries to keep his distance. The storyline revolves around a human trafficking ring. I love stories that deal with hard issues like human trafficking. The mystery and tracking down clues as well as leads was fun to read. The story seemed to be well researched and was therefore believable and gripping. As I said in the beginning, I had a very hard time putting this book down. Recommend? Yes! If you love a gripping, suspenseful story I highly recommend this book. As always let me know if you have any questions about the book!
