They range from Be Sweet to Him to Make the Most of Little Moments to Hold Hands. There were so many good reminders and even some I had not thought about. I will definitely be rereading this book over the many years to come in my own marriage. Recommend? Yes. This is a great, quick read. I would recommend this for everyone who is engaged, newly married or has been married for years. A Distance Too Grand By: Regina Scott Genre: Historical, Romance, Fiction Publisher: Revell Publication Year: 2019 Series: American Wonders Collection, Book #1 My Rating: 4 of 5 stars Synopsis:
Meg Pero has been assisting her photographer father since she was big enough to carry his equipment, so when he dies she is determined to take over his profession - starting with fulfilling the contract he signed to serve on an Army survey of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in 1871. What she doesn't realize is that the leader of the expedition is none other than the man she once refused to marry. Captain Ben Coleridge would like nothing more than to leave without the woman who broke his heart. He can't afford to be distracted during the survey, which is a screen for another, more personal mission, one he cannot share with any member of his team. As dangers arise from all sides - and even from within - Meg and Ben must work together to stay alive, fulfill their duties, and, just maybe, rekindle a love that neither had completely left behind. ~Taken from the back of the book. You can visit Regina's website here. My Thoughts: This book was a great and engaging read from start to finish. The author describes the scenery throughout the book with vivid details and it almost feels like you are there looking at the canyon and the vistas. But I really enjoyed the two main characters, Meg and Ben, the most. As well as their backstories and how they reconnect and work through their problems through the book. I especially enjoyed Meg's spunk. She wouldn't take no nonsense from anyone and whenever someone told her she couldn't or was out of line, she doesn't act hurt or go cower in a corner, she stands up for herself, her work and usually ended up encouraging the other person to become the best they can be. The other characters help round out the story and it is delightful to watch them develop through the book. Recommend? Yes. Adventure mixed with a bit of romance in a well paced book. This was an engaging read that kept me turning the pages. Cheers, Rebecca Revell Reads sent me this complimentary copy to review for them. All opinions expressed are my own. One Final Breath By: Lynn H. Blackburn Genre: Fiction Publisher: Revell Publication Year: 2019 Series: Dive Team Investigators, Book #3 My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Synopsis:
When investigator Gabriel Chavez had his cover blown by an aggressive reporter, the silver lining was being able to rejoin the dive team. The downside? Dive team captain Anissa Bell–a woman who both fascinates and frustrates him. Anissa grew up as a missionary kid on the Micronesian island of Yap and always planned to return after college. But she remained stateside, determined to solve the case that haunts her–the murder of her best friend and the disappearance of a three-year-old child. When Anissa’s fractured past collides with Gabe’s investigation into the tragic shooting death of a teenage boy in Lake Porter, they’ll have to put their complicated history with each other aside in order to uncover the identity of a killer. What they’ll discover is that revenge has no statute of limitations. ~Taken from Lynn H. Blackburn's site: http://lynnhblackburn.com/books/one-final-breath/ My Thoughts: Oh my word! I love this series and the last book did not disappoint. This third installment was quick paced, action packed and had the perfect amount of romance. Lynn Blackburn has written a spectacular conclusion to her dive team series. Anissa and Gabe's story has been something I have been looking forward to ever since it was hinted at in the first book. Anissa and Gabe are great characters. Anissa is a tough, strong and struggling with what she deems a mistake she made which resulted in the death of her best friend. Her sense of justice leads her to stay in the States to try to figure out who killed her friend, instead of going back to the mission field. She wrestles with the impact this decision has made on her life throughout the book. Gabe’s character makes me think of on of those Lindt chocolates. Hard exterior, but soft and sweet in the inside. Throughout the book, Gabe has to figure out how to be protective of Anissa without smothering her and protect her without taking away her ability to make choices. Such great characters with real problems and real development over the course of the book. Recommend? Yes! If you like modern day action, suspense and mystery this is a good read. I also recommend the first two book in this series. If you would like to read my review of the second book click here. Cheers, Rebecca Revell Reads sent me this complimentary copy to review for them.
