One Final Breath By: Lynn H. Blackburn Genre: Fiction Publisher: Revell Publication Year: 2019 Series: Dive Team Investigators, Book #3 My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Synopsis:
When investigator Gabriel Chavez had his cover blown by an aggressive reporter, the silver lining was being able to rejoin the dive team. The downside? Dive team captain Anissa Bell–a woman who both fascinates and frustrates him. Anissa grew up as a missionary kid on the Micronesian island of Yap and always planned to return after college. But she remained stateside, determined to solve the case that haunts her–the murder of her best friend and the disappearance of a three-year-old child. When Anissa’s fractured past collides with Gabe’s investigation into the tragic shooting death of a teenage boy in Lake Porter, they’ll have to put their complicated history with each other aside in order to uncover the identity of a killer. What they’ll discover is that revenge has no statute of limitations. ~Taken from Lynn H. Blackburn's site: http://lynnhblackburn.com/books/one-final-breath/ My Thoughts: Oh my word! I love this series and the last book did not disappoint. This third installment was quick paced, action packed and had the perfect amount of romance. Lynn Blackburn has written a spectacular conclusion to her dive team series. Anissa and Gabe's story has been something I have been looking forward to ever since it was hinted at in the first book. Anissa and Gabe are great characters. Anissa is a tough, strong and struggling with what she deems a mistake she made which resulted in the death of her best friend. Her sense of justice leads her to stay in the States to try to figure out who killed her friend, instead of going back to the mission field. She wrestles with the impact this decision has made on her life throughout the book. Gabe’s character makes me think of on of those Lindt chocolates. Hard exterior, but soft and sweet in the inside. Throughout the book, Gabe has to figure out how to be protective of Anissa without smothering her and protect her without taking away her ability to make choices. Such great characters with real problems and real development over the course of the book. Recommend? Yes! If you like modern day action, suspense and mystery this is a good read. I also recommend the first two book in this series. If you would like to read my review of the second book click here. Cheers, Rebecca Revell Reads sent me this complimentary copy to review for them.
